The first week I had off from work, I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and that gave me a little down time to find an awesome pattern on Pinterest. This gave me the perfect opportunity to crochet a blanket for my friend Cheyenne's baby. The pattern I used is called the Kitty-Cat Afghan. Click here to find the pattern if you'd like to make this yourself. Here's a picture of what it looked like finished.
After I finished that project, I felt like I needed to start focusing on school! This year, I will only be teaching 6th grade Language Arts. My biggest frustration is that I never seem to be organized enough at work. So, I loved the Teacher Toolbox that I found on Pinterest. I went to Home Depot and bought a Stack On accessory box in the toolbox section. It's actually much smaller in person than it looks in the photograph.
If you'd like to make your own, click here to get my labels for free! Now, you won't have to measure the drawers yourself. The document is in pdf format though, so you won't be able to modify the text. If you'd like the Word document, click the Email Me button, and request it from me. The font I used is called Impervious, and I got it for free on an excellent site called Kevin & Amanda: Fonts for Peas It's a great site, and I've gotten a lot of cool fonts from it.
*Unfortunately, I have to change the Pencils drawer because the drawer isn't deep enough for the length of the pencils. I will take a picture of this once it's on my desk.
The final project for today's post is the Where Are We? sign. Again, I found it on Pinterest. Click here to see the original directions that I used to make it. It was pretty simple. I used scrapbook paper to cover a dry erase board, ribbon, clothespins, ModPodge (love that stuff), a foam paintbrush, stickers, and a hot glue gun. You can usually find the small cardboard dry erase boards at Target or Walmart in their dollar bins. Walmart has ribbon for $1.50 a spool and 50 clothespins for $3.00. I actually used nail polish to decorate my clothespins.
Here is an example of one of my signs. I made one for each of my 6th grade teammates.
If you're interested in making this, I included (for free) the link here to print your own Where Are We signs. ;o) Happy crafting!
